Department of Plant Resources was established in 2016 B.S. for the main purpose of identification, technology development, conservation and sustainable development of plant resources. It has reached to the present scenario by going through the different phases in the field of research and development of plant resources in science and technology. This department has been providing service especially in four sectors. First- to publish the Nepal Flora by keeping the record of flowering as well as non-flowering plants of Nepal, second- in-situ and ex-situ conservation of rare, endangered and threatened species of entire Flora of Nepal, third- development and handover of Good agricultural and cultivation Practices and technology of Medicinal plants to the farmers and fourth- standardisation and certification of essence of Medicinal plants collected in Nepal. Department of Plant Resources has taken a long-term deliberation of environmental balance and prosperity through conservation of genetic root of diverse plants. Also, it has been applying various work-plans in coordination with private, co-operatives and entrepreneurs to enhance and encompass the traditional practices and farming of Medicinal plants. At last, I am very glad to inform that Department of Plant Resources and its branch offices along with all the organisations providing service related to plants is facilitating Government of Nepal long-term goal of "Prosperous Nepal: Happy Nepalese"
